This project was created for an Articulate E-Learning Challenge exploring the use of Storyline’s merge shapes feature to design original graphics directly inside the tool. Rather than relying on stock imagery, every part of the scene (gears, levers, pipes, and control panels) was handcrafted using nothing but Storyline’s shape tools.
Learners are dropped into a factory where a vital machine has broken down. Their task: rebuild it by solving riddles, selecting the right parts, and restoring production.
Articulate Storyline 360 · Merge Shapes · Custom Graphics · Gamification Design · AI Audio & Sound Design
I started with the question: How far can I push Storyline’s native tools?
Using merge shapes, I built the entire machine interface from scratch — lightweight, scalable, and completely editable.
Each stage blends problem-solving and play:
Custom Graphics: Every cog, bolt, and pipe built through merged shapes for full control.
Riddle Gameplay: Learners solve clues to select the correct machine part.
Sound Design: AI-generated narration, click effects, and factory startup sounds create immersion.
The result is a compact, interactive mini-game that celebrates creativity within Storyline’s native limits.
This project reinforced that boundaries spark creativity. Even simple shape tools can produce engaging, polished experiences when paired with imagination and purposeful design.
